HI,

Ive been using Seamonkey mail for years. It's the best out there I
reckon.

Given it's open source is it possible to compile seamonkey suite so
that you only end up with the mail app - standalone so to speak?

SeaMonkey's E-mail, newsgroup, and news feed capabilites very, very much
copy those of Thunderbird, at least through Thunderbird version 52.9.1.
Many SeaMonkey extensions also work with that version of Thunderbird,
and a few extension that no longer work with SeaMonkey still work with
that version of Thunderbird. Although some want to use Thunderbird as a
Web browser and complain when it does not render complicated HTML well,
it is indeed supposed to be only a message application.

Beyond version 52.9.1, some older extensions are no longer functional in
Thunderbird.

Demonstrators worldwide are demanding that Israel stop

that Hamas stop fighting? And where are the demonstrations
against Russia fighting in the Ukraine.

Orby, in response to your actual question, I think, when installing
SeaMonkey from scratch you have the option of selecting which components
you want installed.

But, if you are having to install a Mail/News reader from scratch ....
why not go with Thunderbird as David suggests.

That used to be the case (selecting components) but it has ceased making
sense for around 10 years now. I had Seamonkey installed at work but
with no requirement for an email client, then a new level came out where
not installing the email part and address book was no longer an option.
This was back in the days when KaiRo was the lead developer.

It was also not a case of "when installing Seamonkey from scratch", you
had the choice with updates as well.

Ah! Well, there you go! Shows how long it's been since I went looking
