The Queen dies, and the BBC think it's appropriate to saturate coverage
of THE SAME THING on BBC One, BBC Two, BBC News Channel, BBC Parliament,
and have stopped transmitting BBC Three and BBC Four all together.

ITV wall to wall Queen, as did Channel 4, and Channel 5.

This morning (as I type), Channel 4 has wiped out the schedules of
comedy in the morning and replaced it all with some "A Place In The Sun"
crap.

ALL the home shopping channels decided to not transmit any more "in
respect"!!!!!

Why can't this stuff just stay on the news Channels, surely that's what
they were created for?

And we haven't even got to the king Charles coronation nonsense yet!

I agree. Designate one channel - maybe BBC News 24, since that's what it's
there for - for coverage of the events. But don't pull programmes from all
other channels. A "stop all the clocks" attitude may have been relevant and
even expected when she became queen, but I don't think it's appropriate
nowadays.

I hope pre-recorded billed programmes will be rescheduled rather than just
dropped.

As I watch very little BBC and ITV it didn't really affect me, the stuff
on the commercial channels recorded fine and I watched a film from my
collection.

Looking this morning some of the stuff advertised for BBC1 switched to
BBC2, if this is the normal for the next 9 days I can live with it.

I just wish they had gone straight to King William V.

It's sad, but I agree that the BBC and many other channels are going
OTT. At the moment I'm making do with My Family on W!

Although at least at some point the TV schedules will recover, unlike
the late Queen.

The problem is not that the schedules have been altered but that online and
over-the-air listings sites don't reflect what is actually being
transmitted.

Digiguide is *still* showing original schedules, without *any* reflection of
the changes. Normally they are pretty quick at showing updates. Either they
have not updated their servers, or else broadcasters have not fed the
revised listings to them.

Radio Times (website) and the over-the-air listings are showing updates but
they don't match what is actually transmitted: several BBC One programmes
that I set to record yesterday (based on the revised OTA listings) were
truncated because BBC One was running about half an hour late of its OTA
listings.

It is at times like this when a big story breaks and schedules get changed
dramatically, that we need a definitive online listing of what is *actually*
going to be transmitted, even if it is necessary to set listings by hand
rather than relying on OTA. Unless you happened to see a caption during a
programme which listed what was coming next, you'd have no way of knowing
what *and when* was due to be broadcast,

Once I was wise to the problem, I added an extra hour to the end of the
programmes that I had set, to allow for BBC running late.

The Guide button on my Samsung TV remote produces a screen listing of
days vertically split into hours horizontally. It has been correct
whenever I checked it but I don't look too far ahead.

Well, I see that as an additional problem.

I have a bigger issue with them treating us all like royal fanatics. Yes
it is important news, and it should take up a lot of the news schedule.
But we all not all royal fanatics who want to see it all day on every
single channel. For starters there is other important news. Apparently
the Ukrainians are gaining ground. What is happening about the cost of
living crisis, if anything at all. What is the new PM likely to inflict
on us?

Every single one of the tribute programmes about the Queen that I recorded
has failed to record in its entirety because the broadcasters were not
keeping to the *revised* schedule that they publicised the previous night
when they updated the over the air EPG. I don't mind them postponing normal
programmes, but it's very unprofessional when the *replacement* programmes
are not as announced.

I haven't deliberately recorded and royal stuff. But I agree that not
sticking to the schedules is not very professional, and I'm finding in a
right pain, with other programs my PVR is recording off the BBC. I keep
having to use either my MythTV system of IPlayer.

Excuse me!!
I'm not making any comment about whether it is history of not!
I'm just commenting on how irritating it is the way they handle it.

Two points.

First, I appreciate that many people want to hear all about royalty, and
that is their choice. But having it imposed on us is a bit much. I used
to be interested in royal stuff, but that interest has been completely
destroyed by the way they go way OTT ramming it down our throats. I
don't think cancelling all other programming all day was really
necessary. I think it would have been plenty just to have most of the
time on the News channel dedicated to it for the day. Also I find it
annoying that even now there is so little news about all the other far
more important stuff in the world, while they are still going into every
royal detail. For people who want every detail of every event, virtually
all the time, why can't they use alternatives such as red button.

Second, if they need to change schedules they could do a better job. I
was just commenting that it is actually a pain that nearly anything I'd
set to record on the BBC was useless, as it records at the wrong time.

Its just filler. They'll use just any excuse to fill up hours of broadcasting time.

The World Snooker Championship. How lucky they were to land that one !
Hour after hour for a whole fortnight only needing fours cameras and a
couple of talking heads.

Spingwatch, Autumnwatch A whole week or fortnight of watching foxes or
badgers or whatever.

Wimbledon ? Another two weeks filled up.

Don't like snooker ? Don't like badgers? Don't like tennis ?- tough !

Ukraine ?

According to Zelinsky on day one, the Russians were already committing
war crimes. Now it seems to cap it all, they're now being supplied with weapons
by Iran and North Korea.

What's next I wonder ? Putin's secret email, exchanges with Jimmy Savile and
Gary Glitter ?

It's not their fault that TV is haunted.

The BBC should take a tip from computer networking engineers and
sacrifice a black goat at midnight. Fixes our network every time!

There may well be conspiracy stories as well. Although when I was fast
forwarding through NewsNight, I did find about 15 min. about Ukraine.

Apparently the Ukrainians have won back an area about twice the size of
London. There are lots of reasons, but one is the Uranians have been
playing the long game. Using weapons the west has provided to attack
Russian supply lines, and degrade the Russian forces.

It was in all the Dutch press. It's between Turkey and Azerbaijan ( spelling) the
invader. Russia is responsible for keeping peace there. ( hollow laugh). Armenia
is where Turkey committed genocide after WW1

I heard between Azerbaijan and Armenia, with Turkish and Israeli weapons, as a
side-mention on a channel that normally reports on Ukraine/Russia attacks.

I don't really known who he is, presumably a chap who before February had a
specialist interest in dinosaurs and fossils? He seems to be a reasonable
source, several days ahead of mainstream media, yes positive towards ukraine,
but not ignoring the negatives.

I think I first stumbled on his video about the use of Russia's oldest ship
being sent to salvage the Moskva, then other stuff started to find its way to my
youtube feed, as it does ...
